Ørsted’s service operation vessel (SOV), Wind of Change, has completed her sea trials in Turkey and is now gearing for her maiden voyage to Germany.

Following the commissioning, expected in May 2019, the SOV will service the Borkum Riffgrund 1 & 2 and Gode Wind 1 & 2 offshore wind farms in the German North Sea.

The 83m long SOV, constructed at Cemre Shipyard in Turkey, features diesel-electric propulsion and dynamic positioning (DP2), and is capable of accommodating more than 60 wind farm technicians.

The vessel was ordered by France’s Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA). Ørsted chartered a second SOV from LDA in April 2018. This vessel will also be built by Cemre Shipyard and once delivered in 2021 will service the 1.2GW Hornsea Project One wind farm offshore the UK.
