U.S. weekly offshore rig count goes up to 23 units

Japanese oil firm Inpex plans to drill an exploration well next year in the WA-343-P block offshore Western Australia and has submitted an environmental plan for the regulators to review.

The number of offshore rigs in the U.S. climbed up by one unit to 23 rigs last week, according to weekly rig count reports by Baker Hughes, a GE company.

Baker Hughes Rig Count: U.S. -3 to 1,022 rigs

U.S. Rig Count is down 3 rigs from last week to 1,022, with oil rigs up 2 to 833, gas rigs down 5 to 189, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 0.

U.S. Rig Count is up 14 rigs from last year’s count of 1,008, with oil rigs up 18 to 833, gas rigs down 3 to 189, and miscellaneous rigs down 1.

The U.S. Offshore Rig Count is up 1 rig to 23 and up 7 rigs year-over-year.

Baker Hughes Rig Count: Canada -2 to 66 rigs

Canada Rig Count is down 2 rigs from last week to 66, with oil rigs down 4 to 18 and gas rigs up 2 to 48.

Canada Rig Count is down 36 rigs from last year’s count of 102, with oil rigs down 23 and gas rigs down 13.
