Overland Park-headquartered FLNG topside solutions provider Black & Veatch has received a full notice to begin work on Golar LNG’s Gimi FLNG.

The company said on Wednesday that the Gimi FLNG would be equipped with Black & Veatch’s patented PRICO liquefaction technology.

The full notice followed a limited notice in December 2018 and enables Black & Veatch to team up with Keppel Shipyard to convert a Moss LNG carrier into an FLNG vessel.

The vessel will work on BP’s Greater Tortue / Ahmeyim field offshore Mauritania and Senegal. The delivery of the vessel is expected in the first half of 2022.

When completed, the Gimi FLNG is designed to produce an average of approximately 2.5 million tonnes of LNG per annum.

The company added that the Gimi project follows the work on Golar’s FLNG Hilli Episeyo which was completed in 2018 and had been operating offshore Cameroon.

It is worth reminding that Keppel O&M received the final notice to proceed from Golar LNG on Wednesday, to begin full conversion works for the Gimi FLNG project.
