US LNG export project developer, Tellurian said it has been granted a FERC authorization to build the Driftwood LNG project near Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Tellurian said on Thursday the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued the order granting authorization for Driftwood LNG, a proposed 27.6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) liquefaction export facility near Lake Charles, Louisiana, and the associated Driftwood pipeline, a 96-mile proposed pipeline connecting to the facility.
According to the project’s timeline, a final investment decision is expected this year with the construction to start shortly after the FID is made.
Tellurian’s president and CEO Meg Gentle said first LNG from the project is expected to be delivered in 2023.
Late last month, Gentle noted that the project completion expected in 2026. While the project’s capacity at full buildout will be 27.6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) Gentle added that the first phase would have a 16.6 mtpa production capacity.
