Oil and gas company Lundin has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to drill exploration wells offshore Norway, using the Leiv Eiriksson drilling rig.
The safety authority said on Tuesday that Lundin had received consent to drill wildcat wells in block 16/4 in the North Sea.
The consent applies to drilling of the gas pilot wells 16/4-U-2/3/4/5/6 in production license 359.
The work is scheduled to begin in June 2019 and is expected to last 24 days.
The wells are to be drilled by Leiv Eiriksson, a semi-submersible drilling rig of the SS Trosvik Bingo 9000 type, owned and operated by Ocean Rig, which was acquired by Transocean in December 2018.
Leiv Eiriksson was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in July 2008.
