A joint initiative of the H2020 OPERA and INTERREG 2SEAS MET-CERTIFIED projects is setting up a a workshop on certification of marine energy converters.
Both the OPERA and MET-CERTIFIED projects have been applying the IEC standards to real world wave and tidal energy deployments.
The workshop aims to explain the importance of the IEC standards to de-risking and commercialising marine renewables and share experiences from applying these standards in a real world setting.
The event is free of charge and it will include EMEC, DMEC, Universities of Exeter and Cork .
It will be held the day prior to All Energy Glasgow on Tuesday 14th May.
MET-CERTIFIED is funded by the Interreg 2 Seas programme and co-financed by the European Fund for Regional Development (ERFD). Also the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Netherlands, Province of South Holland and North Holland and the Belgian Province of West Flanders are offering financial support.
The OPERA project, coordinated by Tecnalia and comprising 12 academic and industrial partners, aims to develop and de-risk technologies that will reduce the cost of operating wave energy devices at sea by 50% and subsequently accelerate the roll-out of marine renewable energy.
