Romanian oil and gas operator Black Sea Oil & Gas (BSOG) and Transgaz have signed a memorandum of understanding for the use and development of the gas transmission pipelines network for the Midia Gas Development (MGD) project.
Black Sea Oil & Gas said earlier this week that the memorandum was signed by Transgaz CEO Ion Sterian and BSOG CEO Mark Beacom on Monday, May 7, in Bucharest.
According to the company, the memorandum outlines the basic principles, responsibilities, and framework for cooperation on the construction of the gas transmission pipeline that will takeover the processed gas at the new gas treatment plant located in Corbu commune, Constanta county, to the National Gas Transmission System operated by Transgaz.
It also covers the cooperation in the fields of research, innovation, technology transfer, decarbonization, and the use of new technologies, injecting hydrocarbon in the gas pipeline to extract the green gas, thus contributing to the mitigation of the climate changes.
Having completed the detailed engineering for the MGD Project, BSOG began the fabrication of the Ana wellhead platform in 2019 at the shipyard Agigea,
The company added that civil construction started civil constructions at the GTP site in Corbu.
It is worth reminding that the Romanian Government approved BSOG’s plan in mid-April for the development of the Ana and Doina offshore gas fields which make up the Midia Gas Development Project.
BSOG along with its partners Petro Ventures and Gas Plus made the FID to proceed with the $400 million Midia gas development in February .
As for the project itself, MGD is the first new offshore gas development project in the Romanian Black Sea after 1989.
It consists of five offshore production wells – one subsea well at Doina field and four platform wells at Ana field, a subsea gas production system over the Doina well which will be connected through an 18-kilometer pipeline with a new unmanned production platform located over Ana field.
A 126-kilometers gas pipeline will link the Ana platform to the shore and GTP plant with a capacity of 1 bcm per year, representing 10% of Romania’s consumption.
