Sweden’s Thun Tankers said it has taken delivery of a pair of vessels including the LNG-powered tanker, Thun Evolve.

The 8,000 dwt E-Class Thun Evolve has been built at the Dutch Ferus Smit shipyard for Thunk Tankers and is capable of running on LNG and biogas as fuel, the company said in its statement.

Thun Tankers have previously informed the vessel will be long-term leased by Preem for deliveries to the company’s depots and customers in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

The second vessel, the 18,650 product tanker Thun Lidkoping, first in the series of five L-Class vessels built for the Swedish company by Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding in China.

Both the L-Class and the E-Class tankers have been designed and developed in-house, using Erik Thun’s long experience of building sustainable, high quality vessels.

The new tankers will enter into the Gothia Tanker Alliance network with crewing and technical management done by MF Shipping Group, Thun Tankers said.
