South Korea’s shipbuilding giant Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has secured a new order for a liquefied natural gas carrier.

The shipbuilder said the vessel capable of transporting 174,000 cubic meters of LNG will be built at Geoje Okpo shipyard for a shipowner from Oceania.

DSME added in its statement that the vessel is scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2021.

The shipbuilder noted in its statement that the newly built vessels will feature the advanced fractional re-liquefaction system(A-PRS) reducing the evaporation rate, reducing the operation costs.

With the latest order, DSME said it has won a total of 14 orders since the start of the year totaling $2.5 billion and including five LNG carriers, 6 super crude oil carriers and 3 submarines.
