Italian oil firm Edison has informed that it has, together with Eni, started developing gas reserves in the G.C1.AG. concession, offshore Sicily, Italy.
Edison has said that the Eni-operated field will produce approximately 1.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year helping satisfy domestic demand.
The oil company has said that the total investments are expected to be around 700 million euros.
“[ The project ] will use an important share of local resources, optimizing the competencies developed in the sector… Natural gas production is envisaged with an entirely underwater development, connected to the coast with direct access to the Gela refinery thanks to an existing dock.” Edison said.
Once treated, the gas will be entirely released into the national network. The first production is expected in the fourth quarter of 2021.
