UK-based offshore vessel owner Sentinel marine has shared first computer-generated images of what will be its new emergency response and rescue vessels.
The ERRV vessel trio – Cromarty Sentinel, Trafalgar Sentinel and Viking Sentinel – is due to join the Sentinel Marine’s fleet by the end of 2020.
According to the company, the three ERRVs are being constructed at a shipyard in China and are an enhanced version of the vessels that Sentinel Marine has introduced to the North Sea in recent years.
The newbuilds will perform roles in addition to the primary function of protecting the offshore workforce, include the supply of cargo, oil recovery, rescue towing and firefighting.
Sentinel Marine has said that the three vessels will have increased dynamic positioning capabilities with a DP2 classification, firefighting class 1, and liquid mud and dry bulk capacities.
Sentinel Marine CEO, Rory Deans , said: “These latest vessels, when delivered, will bring the total number of ships in our fleet to 14… We look forward to seeing the three new additions take shape in the months ahead and eventually welcoming them to Aberdeen where they will take up operations in the North Sea.”
