Japanese shipping company Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) has taken delivery of Miyagawa Maru, a 100,000 dwt coal carrier.

The newbuild was handed over to its owner by Marugame Shipyard, part of Imabari Shipbuilding, in Japan on May 21, 2019.

As explained, Miyagawa Maru was jointly developed by Imabari and K Line to maximize transport volume to the discharging port, JERA’s Hekinan Thermal Power Plant, Aichi prefecture in Japan.

The ship belongs to the so-called Hekinan Max class and is equipped with the latest ecological technology turbocharger such as variable turbine inlet which optimizes energy-saving plus a ballast water management system that prevents damage to marine ecosystems.

Featuring a length of 250 meters and a width of 43 meters, Miyagawa Maru currently has a market value of USD 32.82 million, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

The 57,841 GT ship will be principally involved in long-term service carrying thermal coal to JERA’s Thermal Power Plant for JERA Global Markets.
