South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has hosted a steel-cutting ceremony for one of two 174,000 cbm LNG carriers it is building for Greek LNG carrier owner and operator GasLog.
The ceremony took place at SHI’s Geoje shipyard on May 17.
In addition to being part of a two-ship order from August 2018 , the unit with hull number 2300 is one of seven vessels GasLog has on order from SHI.
All of the newbuilds, which include 176,400 cbm and 180,000 cbm units, are scheduled to be delivered by 2021.
Hull number 2300 will feature low pressure two stroke propulsion with an X-DF dual-fuel engine.
It is scheduled for delivery in late 2020 and will be chartered by a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cheniere Energy for a firm period of seven years.
