Hyundai Heavy books LNG pair order from European shipowner

South Korean shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) booked an order for a pair of liquefied natural gas carriers on Thursday.

South Korean shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) booked an order for a pair of liquefied natural gas carriers on Thursday.

The shipbuilder said the order is valued at 463 billion South Korean won ($390 million) and are being built for unnamed shipping company from Europe.

The vessels will each have the capacity to transport 180,000 cubic meters of natural gas.

The delivery of the pair, according to the Hyundai Heavy corporate filing, the vessels are scheduled for delivery by June 30, 2022.

With the latest order, Hyundai Heavy Industries has brought the total LNG carrier orders for the year to five.
