President of Russian oil and gas company Lukoil has discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation with the president of the Republic of the Congo.
Lukoil said on Friday that its president Vagit Alekpero v met with President of the Republic of the Congo Denic Sassou Nguesso .
Earlier on, Lukoil and the National Petroleum Company of Congo (SNPC) signed a memorandum of agreement.
According to the document, the parties agreed to review opportunities for joint projects on geological exploration, field development, and hydrocarbon production in the Republic of the Congo.
Nguesso stated during the meeting that senior Congolese officials were interested in the development of cooperation with Lukoil and would render all-round assistance to the company in its effort to evolve projects in the country.
Currently, the company has no projects in the Republic of the Congo but has projects in several other African countries.
Namely, Lukoil has operations in Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, and Egypt. Some of the more prominent offshore projects are the Etinde project in Cameroon, OML 140 in Nigeria, and the Deepwater Tano/Cape Three Points in Ghana.
All the company’s operations in Egypt – West Esh El Mallaha and Meleiha – are onshore.
