Hong Kong’s Jinhui Shipping and Transportation has cancelled the purchase of the second of two Supramax bulkers after the vessel was not delivered according to schedule.

The purchase of two 50,300 dwt Supramaxes, Aigeorgis and Aifanourios, from Greek ship manager Chartworld Shipping Corporation was announced by Jinhui in April this year.

The 2001- and 2002-built units were acquired for a total of USD 12 million, or USD 5.75 million and USD 6.25 million respectively.

Aigeorgis was handed over on time but the purchase of Aifanourios was cancelled after it was not delivered by the May 31, 2019, deadline.

With the delivery of Aigeorgis completed, Jinhui’s fleet is brought to nineteen dry bulk vessels, including two Post-Panamax and sixteen Supramax units.
