PVGazprom Natural Gas for Vehicles, a Russian-Vietnamese joint venture plans to start construction of a small-scale LNG plant this year.
The construction of the facility, expected to come onstream in 2020, has been discussed by Gazprom’s head Alexey Miller and Vietnam’s Central Committee’s Economic Commission chairman Nguyen Van Binh.
The parties discussed current bilateral projects and the prospects of cooperation, with an emphasis on advancing power generation and LNG projects.
The small-scale LNG facility is set to produce liquefied natural gas volumes for use as fuel in road and maritime transport.
Gazprom noted in its statement that the bidding for an EPC contractor is currently underway.
PVGazprom Natural Gas for Vehicles a joint venture by Gazprom EP International (35.5 percent), Gazprom Gazomotornoye Toplivo (35.5 percent), and Petrovietnam Gas (29 percent), was established in 2015 to advance the use natural gas as a vehicle fuel in Vietnam.
