The port of Nynäshamn, a part of the Ports of Stockholm, had its LNG debut with a first ship-to-ship bunkering operation there.
Hamburg-based Nauticor, a unit of Linde, said via social media that the port of Nynäshamn debuted on the small-scale LNG scene last weekend.
Namely, the first ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation at the port was conducted when Gotland’s LNG-fuelled ferry Visborg received the chilled fuel from Nauticor’s Kairos, the world’s largest liquefied natural gas bunkering vessel.
Kairos, with a tank capacity of 7,500 cubic meters is owned by Babcock Schulte Energy. Klaipedos Nafta and Nauticor chartered the vessel through the joint venture Blue LNG, where Nauticor had a 90 percent share, and Klaipedos Nafta had a 10 percent share.
Klaipedos Nafta sold its 10 percent stake in the joint venture in late April 2019 , making Nauticor the sole charterer of Kairos. The transfer will become effective as of September 30, 2019.
