Aker BP has been given consent by the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to use the Deepsea Nordkapp drilling rig for production drilling on the Skogul field offshore Norway.
Skogul field is in the central North Sea, 30 kilometers north-east of Alvheim. Aker BP is the operator.
The PSA has now given Aker BP consent to use Deepsea Nordkapp to drill well 25/1-S-1 H, a production well with two lateral bores tied to the Alvheim floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit via the Vilje field.
Drilling is scheduled to begin on July 26, 2019, and is expected to last 85 days.
Deepsea Nordkapp is a semi-submersible drilling rig of the Moss Maritime CS 60E type, owned and operated by Odfjell Drilling.
The facility received Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in April 2019.
Aker BP submitted its plan for development and operations of the Skogul field in December 2017. The field is located 30 kilometers north of Alvheim FPSO, and will be developed as a subsea tieback to Alvheim via Vilje.
Recoverable reserves are estimated to around 10 million barrels of oil equivalents. Production start is planned for first quarter 2020.
The production well at Skogul will be subsea production well number 35 in the Alvheim area.
