The first liquefied natural gas cargo shipped from Shell’s Prelude FLNG unit located 475 km North East of Broome in Western Australia has landed in South Korea.

Shipping data provided by VesselsValue shows that the 174,400-cbm Valencia Knutsen unloaded the cargo at Kogas’ Tongyeong LNG terminal on June 27.

The cargo, totaling 70,000 tons of LNG was purchased by the state-owned Kogas on a spot basis, Reuters reports, citing a company spokesperson.

The cargo departed Shell’s Prelude FLNG on June 11 , with Shell then noting it was sold to an Asian customer.

The Prelude FLNG facility is operated by Shell in joint venture with Inpex (17.5 percent), Kogas (10 percent) and OPIC (5 percent).

The company opened the wells in the fourth quarter last year, supplying gas to the Prelude FLNG, the largest of its kind.

The FLNG facility is expected to stay moored at the Prelude gas field offshore Western Australia for 25 years. It is designed to produce 3.6 mtpa of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate and 0.4 mtpa of LPG for export.
