REN-operated Sines LNG import terminal in Portugal is set to receive a new cargo of the gas from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG export terminal in Louisiana.
According to the shipping data by the Port of Sines, Höegh Giant with the capacity to transport 170,032 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas is scheduled to arrive at the Sines LNG terminal on Wednesday, July 10.
The vessel was built by the South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries in 2017 . Current AIS data shows that the vessel departed the Sabine Pass LNG export facility on June 26.
The Sines LNG terminal has a nominal sendout capacity of 600,000 cubic meters per hour (5.26 bcm per year), with a peak capacity of 900,000 cubic meters per hour.
The Höegh Giant FSRU is currently under a time charter contract with Spanish LNG operator Naturgy, formerly known Gas Natural Fenosa.
Naturgy took the FSRU on a three-year deal in February 2018 . The deal also entails an option to utilize the unit as an FSRU at a pre-defined day rate and for a pre-defined term.
Under the contract, the Höegh Giant is working in the LNG carrier spot-market until the company finds work for the vessel as an FSRU.
