Oil and gas company Lundin Norway will spud the Goddo well (16/5-8 S), located in license PL 815 offshore Norway, shortly.

The Goddo well is located in the North Sea and it will be drilled using the Transocean-owned Leiv Eiriksson semi-submersible drilling rig.

The license PL 815 is operated by Lundin with a 60% interest and Concedo and Petoro are its partners with a 20% interest each.

Although the well was supposed to be drilled in May, Concedo said on Friday it would be spud shortly.

A contingent horizontal sidetrack (16/5-8 A) will be drilled back to back with the main bore pending the contingencies. The well is located on the Utsira High, not far from the giant oil field Johan Sverdrup in the central North Sea.

Lundin has already secured a drilling permit from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate and a safety consent to use the Leiv Eiriksson rig for the well.

Production licence 815 was awarded on February 5, 2016 (APA 2015). This is the first exploration well to be drilled in the current license, but one wildcat well has been drilled earlier within the license area.
