Global Energy Group’s North Fabrication division has completed the work on Schiehallion Central Production Manifold M1P for BP’s Shiehallion field offshore the UK.
Global Energy said this week that the 130Te manifold was handed over to the British oil major in May. It took Global Energy eight months to complete the project.
OSS had awarded Global Energy the contract in September 2018 while first steel was cut in October of the same year.
As for the Schiehallion field, it is located 175 kilometers west of the Shetland Islands. BP operates the field with a 33.35 percent interest with its other partners being Siccar Point, Shell, and Chrysaor.
Schiehallion is one of the UK’s largest fields in production. It was discovered in 1993, and the first production started in 1998. The field had produced 323 million barrels of oil in 15 years of production through a floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO). The field holds over 400 million barrels of remaining recoverable oil reserves.
In 2011 the Schiehallion partnership sanctioned field redevelopment as part of BP’s Quad 204 project, with the old FPSO eventually replaced by the newbuild Glen Lyon FPSO.
Much of the subsea infrastructure has also been replaced, and the field resumed production in May 2017 and will continue to produce until at least 2046.
