Japanese shipowner, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) said on Wednesday that the Energy Advance liquefied natural gas carrier rescued a castaway in the Pacific Ocean about 970km off Luzon Island in the Philippines.
The company said that the vessel under its operation was underway from the port of Ogishima, Japan to Dampier, Australia on July 1 when it received a rescue request.
The rescue assistance request was issued by the Guam Rescue Coordination Centre.
The LNG carrier arrived at the scene at around 11:10 the same day rescuing one castaway from the yacht Shuten Dohji Ⅱ.
The Energy Advance LNG carrier is capable of transporting 147,000 cubic meters of the chilled fuel. It was built in 2005 by the Kawasaki Heavy Industry.
