Chief executive officer of Australia-based oil and gas exploration company Melbana Energy has decided to leave the company.
Melbana said on Monday that CEO Robert Zammit had left the company effective July 19, 2019.
During the search for Zammit’s replacement, Michael Sandy , an independent non-executive director of Melbana, will assume the chief executive officer role on an interim basis.
It is worth reminding that Zammit took over the CEO role in Melbana back in January 2018 after former boss Peter Stickland tendered his resignation due to health reasons.
Zammit was at the time the executive manager of commercial and business development at the company.
Before joining Melbana in 2011, Zammit had an extensive international career with ExxonMobil, where he worked in a variety of roles in Australia, Europe, Asia, and the USA.
“The company would like to thank Mr. Zammit for his contribution to the company and wish him well in his future endeavors,” Melbana added in the announcement.
