Brazilian oil company Petrobras is seeking to auction off a 2010-built ultra-deepwater drillship.

The company is planning to sell the Vitoria 10000 drillship via an international electronic auction in September. The Vitoria 10000 is a sixth-generation drillship built by Samsung, under the Samsung 10000 design.

The rig – initially owned by Schahin – later renamed to BASE – entered service in 2010.

Norwegian rig broker Bassoe Offshore’s Bassoe Analytics tool shows the rig is currently warm stacked in Brazil. Data by MarineTraffic shows the rig as being at anchor near the Badejo field in the Campos Basin.

Bassoe Offshore estimates the Vitoria 10000 value to be around 105 – 116 million. VesselsValue, another website providing estimated sales and purchase value of vessels, has raised its market value estimate for the Vitoria 10000.

According to VesselsValue, the Vitoria 10000 is, as of July 25, valued around $174,83 million. This is an increase compared to levels from July 2018 when VV had valued the drillship at around $129 million. VesselsValue’s data shows the rig had had a peak value in March 2011 – at around $683 million.

Whatever the value may be, Brazilian energy news websites have reported that, for the potential buyers, a promise of a future contract for the rig with Petrobras will play a significant role in the sale.

The Vitoria 10000 is 227,8 meters long, with a breadth of 42 meters. It can accommodate 199 people and has a maximum drilling depth capacity of 11430 meters. It is capable of drilling in a water depth of up to 3048 meters.

Info on Petrobras’ website shows the drillship is available for interested parties to visit from July 24, 2019, until five business days before the auction date – set for September 18.
