Oil and gas company Neptune Energy has started its first subsea installation and construction campaign on the Duva field in the North Sea off Norway.
Neptune said on Tuesday via social media that the first piece of equipment installed on the Duva field was the integrated template structure (ITS).
The ITS is the first large scale piece of fabrication work to be completed for the Neptune-operated field. The company added that, weather conditions permitting, it was expected to be installed over the course of a five-day campaign.
Neptune Energy Norge’s managing director Odin Estensen said: “By installing the ITS now, we are on track for undertaking drilling later this year, leaving us well-positioned to reach first oil in the fourth quarter of 2020.”
It is worth reminding that Neptune submitted its development plan for the Duva project to Norwegian authorities on February 21 this year and the plan was approved in late June .
The plan for the Duva field was approved together with plans for the Gjøa project. First production from the projects is expected in late 2020.
Duva’s recoverable resources are estimated to be 88 million boe, and it is expected to yield around 30,000 boe per day at maximum production.
Developed with a four-slot subsea template, the Duva field will be tied back to the Gjøa platform for processing and export. The field will have three production wells, two oil producers and one gas producer, with the potential for an additional oil well.
Earlier this month, Polish state-owned oil company PGNiG acquired a 20 percent share in the Duva field from Wellesley Petroleum.
Following the acquisition, Idemitsu holds 30 percent, Pandion Energy and PGNiG hold 20 percent each while the operator Neptune holds the remaining 30 percent.
