Natural Power has appointed Matthew Filippelli to lead the company’s offshore wind services in the United States.

Filippelli has taken over the position of Principal Engineer and Offshore Services Lead and will be based in the company’s New York office.

“The US has a vast offshore wind energy resource, and as this market continues to gather pace, it is important that we prioritize expanding our team and expertise to meet the needs of our clients and the market at large,” said Jim Adams , President of Natural Power in North America.

“The US energy sector has a rich skills base, with decades of experience in developing ocean energy infrastructure, and we are delighted to welcome Matt to the team to lead our business in this area.”

Filippelli joins the company from UL Renewables, where he most recently held the positions of Director of Offshore Services and Principal Engineer.

According to Natural Power, Filippelli has supported the initiation and growth of the US offshore wind industry through commercial advisory services, research and development projects since 2003.

Outside of North America, he has worked to develop and implement offshore business strategies for both new and established markets, the company added.

“The US wind market has reached a turning point for offshore development. I am excited to work with my new US and global colleagues to help deliver on the enormous potential in state and federal waters,” Filippelli said.
