Subsea connector specialist Balltec has recently completed offshore pipeline recovery work on Equinor’s Åsgard field located in the Norwegian Sea.
Balltec said on Wednesday that the work on the pipeline was done on behalf of TechnipFMC Norway.
The company provided a 10-inch pipeline recovery tool, which was deployed to a water depth of 314 meters to recover a pipeline on the Åsgard field.
The work, overseen by a Balltec offshore technician, was required to re-lay the pipe in an installation area to allow the replacement of a previously damaged section of the pipe.
As for the Åsgard field, it is located in Haltenbanken in the Norwegian Sea, around 200 kilometers off mid-Norway and 50 kilometers south of the Heidrun field.
The Åsgard A oil production vessel arrived at the field in February 1999 and started production in May that year. The field also consists of the Åsgard B semi-submersible gas and condensate processing platform, and Åsgard C condensate storage vessel.
The entire field development ranks among the largest developments on the NCS, embracing a total of 63 production and injection wells drilled through 19 subsea templates.
The field encompasses the Midgard, Smørbukk and Smørbukk South deposits while Mikkel and Yttergryta gas fields are also tied back to the Åsgard infrastructure.
