French cruise company Ponant has revealed its plans to acquire Paul Gauguin Cruises, the operator of cruises in French Polynesia and the South Pacific.

The cruise line operates the 1997-built luxury cruise ship Paul Gauguin, which currently sails year-round to Tahiti & Society Islands, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, Fiji, Marquesas, Tonga, Tuamotus, Australia & New Zealand.

Paul Gauguin Cruises’ parent company Beachcomber Croisieres Limited had previously acquired the line in 2009.

Following the acquisition, the two cruise lines will keep their management, Diane Moore acting as CEO of Paul Gauguin Cruises with her team still based in Bellevue, Washington, and Navin Sawhney acting as CEO Americas of Ponant, based in New York.

“We are pleased to welcome Paul Gauguin Cruises to our Ponant family,” Jean-Emmanuel Sauvée, Founder and President of Ponant, said.

“As we join the Ponant family, we remain dedicated to our shared passion for authentic experiences, high quality service and sustainable practices. We are excited about introducing our guests to the wider world of Ponant and to welcoming Ponant guests on board Paul Gauguin,” Paul Gauguin Cruises, Diane Moore observed, added.
