NKT had received the award by Energinet and National Grid to supply a onshore cable system for Viking Link interconnector project, connecting the Danish and British power transmission grids.
The deal will see NKT deliver approximately 150 kilometers of 525 kV MI high-voltage DC onshore power cables.
NKT and the project owners have now signed the final contract documents for the project. With this step, the award of the Viking Link cable solution to NKT is confirmed.
As previously announced the order represents a contract value for NKT of approx. EUR 90 million.
Production of the power cables is expected to start in 2020.
Prysmian will be delivering the entire 1,250 km cable for the submarine route and all of the approximately 135 km of land cables on the UK side.
