Jenkins Marine Ltd is about to begin a routine maintenance dredging project within Haslar Marina Gosport and the RNSA pontoon, informs the Queen’s Harbor Master Portsmouth.

According to the notice, the maintenance dredging will begin within Haslar Marina Gosport and the RNSA pontoon (located to the south of the marina), from 9 September 2019 with completion expected by mid December 2019.

For the project, the contractor will bring in the 30.1m backhoe dredger ‘DOREEN DORWARD’.

The dredged material will be loaded into one of two 44.1m self propelled split hopper barges ‘NAB’ or ‘NEEDLES’ for disposal to the Nab spoil Ground.

Operations will be conducted daily between 0600 and 2100 Monday to Friday but with the option to work weekends if bad weather is a factor, reported the Harbor Master.

They also added that the RNSA pontoon will have to be removed to facilitate these works and will be renewed and re-piled by Walcon Marine Ltd, assisted by marine assets belonging to Baker Trayte Marine Ltd.
