Hyundai Heavy books LNG carrier order

South Korean shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) booked an order for a liquefied natural gas carrier on Monday.

South Korean shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) booked an order for a liquefied natural gas carrier on Monday.

According to a stock exchange filing, the company is set to build a liquefied natural gas carrier capable of transporting 174,000 cubic meters of the chilled fuel for an unnamed shipowner from the Oceania region.

The contract is valued at 228.9 billion South Korean won ($188.8 million), the company’s statement reads.

The vessel is set for delivery before January 28, 2022.
