Flex LNG, the company controlled by billionaire John Fredriksen and an emerging player in the LNG shipping business, had its newbuild LNG carrier launched in South Korea.

In a brief social media statement, Flex LNG said the newbuilding number 8010 was launched on Friday, September 6 at the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard.

The vessel, to be named Flex Aurora, is a two-stroke vessel with a low-pressure X-DF vessel capable of transporting 174,000 cubic meters of the chilled fuel.

Flex further noted that it is one of the first uncommitted vessels with this kind of motor technology entering the market.

Once fully refurbished and mobilized she will be available for business at the end of the second quarter of 2020.
