Ørsted and Omnisens have signed a framework agreement for the supply of fiber optic-based power cable monitoring solutions for Ørsted’s future offshore wind farms.

The 5+ year framework agreement covers the integrity and performance monitoring of export cables of all offshore wind farms that will be constructed by Ørsted in UK, USA, and Taiwan.

The Hornsea Two offshore wind farm will be the first of the projects that will be managed through the framework. With its 1,386MW that will be generated 89 kilometres off the coast of UK, Hornsea Two will be the largest offshore wind farm in the world once commissioned in 2022.

“This framework agreement is not only the results of the best ROI to the customer, it is also the fruit of a trustful and successful collaboration between Ørsted and Omnisens. We look very much forward to strengthening further this collaboration and to contributing to the expansion of green energies into new markets such as USA and Taiwan,” the Swiss-based fiber optic monitoring specialist said.
