Thun Tankers christens LNG-fueled Thun Venern in Stockholm

Sweden’s Thun Tankers on Wednesday named its 18,000-dwt duel-fuel product/chemical tanker Thun Venern in Stockholm.

Sweden’s Thun Tankers on Wednesday named its 18,000-dwt duel-fuel product/chemical tanker Thun Venern in Stockholm.

Thun Venern is one of totally six delivered sister-ships, to the Swedish company that has already placed an order for two additional vessels.

The vessel that uses natural gas or biogas as fuel was ordered by Thun Tankers together with the Gothia Tanker Alliance partners Furetank and Älvtank.

The alliance has a total of eight LNG-fueled vessels already delivered and four more are on order.

Thun Venern is designed by the marine engineering company FKAB in cooperation with Furetank Rederi.

The vessel features full Tier III, dual-fuel/LNG propulsion including LNG in port consumption, LNG for IG-boiler, battery backup for all vital functions and special ballast water cleaning system and Ice class 1A.
