During the last month, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) reached a volume of more than 1 million m³ of dredged material removed from seven dredging sites – for the first time in six years of its existence.

These dredge spots include the Mariupol, Berdyansk, Kherson and Mykolayiv Ports, as well as the Kherson Sea Channel, Kamenskoe and Kremenchug reservoirs.

Commenting the latest milestone, USPA Head Raivis Veckagans said: “The record dredging rate of 1,017 million m³ of soil in one month is a result of the coordinated works of USPA’s dredging fleet and other specialized vessels belonging to our contractors.”

The largest contribution to this record – over 600.000 cubic meters of material – was achieved during the Mariupol Port dredging program.

According to USPA, the contractor Technical Bureau Azimut LLC will remove 1.98 million cubic meters of material from the port’s areas, including 1.87 million cubic meters from the approach channel and 115.000 cubic meters from the inner port zone by the end of 2019.
