Teekay Offshore has ordered another shuttle tanker from South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries for its Canadian tanker fleet.

The dynamically-positioned, Suezmax-size newbuilding is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2022.

Once delivered, it will join the company’s fleet of three existing Heritage-class shuttle tankers that arrived on the Canadian East Coast in 2017 and 2018.

The tankers service oil fields on Canada’s East Coast under a 2015 contract with the Basin Wide Transportation and Transshipment System (BWTTS).

“The extension of our Canadian shuttle tanker fleet further strengthens our position in the global shuttle tanker industry, and we feel both honored and proud to continue being the trusted provider of shuttle tanker services at the Hibernia, Terra Nova, White Rose and Hebron offshore oil fields located in Newfoundland & Labrador,” Idar Hillersøy, President Teekay Offshore Logistics, commented.

The DP2 shuttle tanker order is the latest in a series of orders placed by Teekay at Samsung Heavy Industries. In July 2018, the company ordered two shuttle tankers on the back of a 2017-order for a tanker duo for North Sea operations.
