Nordic small-scale liquefied natural gas supplier Gasum is eyeing expansion of its marine LNG services in response to the growing demand from the market.

The company said it has appointed Jacob Granqvist to the newly-created position of sales director of Gasum’s marine LNG business.

According to the company’s statement, he has been tasked with driving the company’s plans to expand its marine LNG services internationally, providing bunkering of LNG as a marine fuel to vessels for their own consumption.

The company, that has been focusing on the expansion of the LNG supply chain, has completed 2,500 LNG bunkering operations since 2017, which represents a 38 percent rise over the previous two year.

Commenting on the company’s plans, Granqvis said Gasum “must have a greater physical presence in key areas.”

“To that end, we aim at expanding our LNG bunker vessel fleet and are in the initial phases of establishing an international network of cooperating parties,” he said.

Already, Gasum is in the final stages of securing a permanent LNG bunkering base in northwest Europe in order to support this busy marine – shipping market.
