The aggregates dredger DC Orisant, built by Royal IHC for Reimerswaal Dredging in 2018, has been officially nominated for KNVTS Schip Van Het Jaar (vessel of the year) 2018, Maritime Awards Gala informs.

Due to the fluctuating demand for sand and gravel during the year, the dredger can also be deployed as a normal trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD).

All drives (propellers, dredge pumps, discharging installation) are fully diesel-electric, to optimize overall efficiency (also in DP/DT mode) and minimize emissions.

To dock the vessel at discharging locations without a quayside, the vessel is equipped with two spuds.

All equipment on board can be inspected, maintained, repaired or replaced in a safe and easy way.

Most sand carrying equipment is made of wear-resistant material.
