Philippines-based Trans-Asia Shipping Lines has signed a 10-year bareboat charter with Southern Pacific Holding Corporation, a subsidiary of Japan’s Kumiai Senpaku, for a newbuild roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) ferry.
To be delivered in June 2021, the passenger ferry will measure 123 meters in length and accommodate up to 1,085 passengers.
It will have a gross tonnage of approximately 8,800 tons and will be constructed at Fukuoka Shipyard in Japan.
The ferry will service the Visayas and Mindanao regions in the Philippines.
This bareboat agreement follows an agreement previously signed by Chelsea Logistics and Infrastructure Holdings Corp. (CLIHC), Trans-Asia Shipping Lines’ parent company, with Kumiai Senpaku for a 98-meter passenger ferry, which will be delivered in April 2020. Under the agreement from June this year, Kumiai Senpaku will finance the construction and acquisition of the ferry for Starlite Ferries, Inc., a subsidiary of CLIHC.
