Asia’s largest LNG bunkering vessel has reached its first milestone with the strike steel ceremony held at the Sembcorp Marine’s shipyard.

A company official at Pavilion Energy, the Temasek-owned company, that has placed the order for the vessel, said the first milestone has been reached after month of engineering design work since the FID has been taken on the long-term charter of the 12,000-cbm LNG bunker vessel.

The long-term charter contract to operate the vessel has been signed with Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL).

The new ship will be the second LNG bunkering vessel in Singapore and is slated to start services in the port of Singapore after its delivery to Pavilion Energy in early 2021.

Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) is focusing considerable effort on development of an LNG fuel supply infrastructure and implementing policies aimed at creating the world’s largest LNG fuel supply port.
