Okeanus Science & Technology (Okeanus) has recently designed and built a high-capacity portable A-Frame.
This A-Frame system has completed its factory acceptance tests and has been shipped to the customer, CSA Ocean Sciences (CSA).
“ We enjoy a long-standing, healthy relationship with CSA and we are thrilled to provide them with such an important operational asset ,” said Don Brockett , COO of Okeanus.
Generally, this type of deployment would have required a vessel with a permanently fixed A-Frame.
“ Keeping mobilization cost, shipping cost and schedules to a minimum are critical to our operations ,” stated Kevin Peterson , CEO of CSA, “ Working closely with Okeanus engineers, our team was able to develop a high-capacity A-Frame that can be quickly and safely mobilized on a vessel of opportunity without sacrificing performance and reliability .”
This A-Frame system was designed to be broken down for shipping, and then easily reassembled for mobilization on a wide variety of marine assets. The system comes with a set of bolt-down plates to secure it to sacrificial base plates, bolt-together sections, quick disconnects all around, and a stand-alone Hydraulic Power Units (HPU) with remote control. This A-Frame has a safe working load rating of 20,000lbs luffing and 30,000lbs static SWL, Okeanus explains.
