Offshore drilling contractor Shelf Drilling has secured contract extensions for four of its jack-up drilling rigs.

Shelf Drilling said on Monday it had been awarded a four-month extension for each of the High Island II, High Island IV, Main Pass I, and Main Pass IV jack-ups in continuation of their existing contracts.

The rig owner has not revealed any further details about the contract extensions.

Shelf Drilling’s latest fleet status report, issued in August 2019, shows that all four rigs are under contracts with Saudi Aramco in the UAE. The report indicates that the existing contracts for High Island IV and Main Pass I expire in October and for the other two rigs in November 2019.

According to information on Bassoe Offshore, the dayrate under existing contracts for all four rigs was $120,000 and for the extensions, the dayrate is estimated to be $80,000.

The High Island II and High Island IV rigs are both of a Marathon LeTourneau 82-SD-C design built in 1979 and 1980, respectively.

The Main Pass I and Main Pass IV jack-ups are of a Friede & Goldman L-780-MOD II design and they were both built in 1982.
