Wind Estate A/S has submitted applications to the Danish Energy Agency (DEA) to conduct feasibility studies for the development of three open-door offshore wind projects with a combined capacity of up to 1.8GW.
DEA said it had sent the three applications to relevant authorities and consultation parties, whose response is expected by 11 December.
The Minister will then decide whether permission should be granted for conducting the preliminary investigations in the three areas.
The first application is for an area north of Djursland and east of Randers Fjord, called Treå Møllebugt. It would feature 60-62 turbines with a total capacity of between 434MW and 720MW.
The second project would be located in an area called Paludans Flak, in the same area as the 23MW Samsø offshore wind farm . The plan is to install 19-22 turbines with a total capacity of between 154MW and 228MW. In the long-term, Wind Estate wishes to replace the 10 turbines at the Samsø project with 7 new and larger units.
The third application is for an area southeast of Mon and east of Falster, called Kadet Banke. Wind Estate proposes to install 72 turbines that would produce between 504MW and 864MW of capacity.
As reported earlier, DEA recently launched a technology-neutral tender calling for bids for the development of open-door offshore wind, onshore wind and solar PV power.
Shortly after, the agency informed it is amending the open-door offshore wind procedure to include a further round of environmental impact consultations before an establishment permit is granted.
