Japanese utility, Tokyo Gas, has rejected a delivery of liquefied natural gas following power issues the tanker carrying the cargo suffered a power outage.
LNG carrier, Energy Atlantic, capable of transporting 159,700 cubic meters, loaded the cargo at Cheniere’s Corpus Christi LNG export facility and was heading to the Negishi terminal, data from VesselsValue shows.
The vessel suffered a power outage following the entrance to Tokyo Bay which resulted in the utility rejecting the cargo.
Citing Tokyo Gas spokesperson, Reuters reports that although the vessel regained power, it has not made the delivery due to safety reasons as the reason for the power outage was unknown.
The rejected delivery will not have an effect on natural gas supplies as the company has sufficient volumes in stock.
