Mundra LNG terminal project in India’s Gujarat state could finally be commissioned in December.
The facility, inaugurated by India’s prime minister Narendra Modi in October last year, ran into a roadblock due to a dispute between Gujarat State Petroleum Corp (GSPC) and Adani Group.
Press Trust of India, citing sources noted that the facility could be commissioned in December as the commercial dispute could be resolved.
The issue that stalled the commissioning of the facility, that received the first cargo in November last year, was GSPC’s refusal to compensate Adani for the investment in the port development, fees to the Gujarat Maritime Board and yearly lease for the land used by the facility.
The facility has been developed by the Adani Group and Gujarat State Petroleum Corp and has the capacity to handle 5 million tons of LNG per year.
The facility consists of two LNG storage tanks of 160,000 cubic meters each and LNG jetty capable of receiving the LNG vessels of sizes ranging from 75,000 to 260,000 cubic meters.
The terminal also has a facility for LNG truck loading.
