US-based energy major Chevron has started maintenance at its Gorgon LNG project on Barrow Island in Western Australia.
According to a notice on its website, Chevron said it will shut down “one half of a train but not greater than one LNG train.”
The maintenance window starter on October 11 and is scheduled to end on November 29.
Additionally, the company noted that it is set to shut down one train “but not greater than one and a half LNG trains” for maintenance next year. The scheduled shutdown will start on May 23 and end on July 11, 2020.
Gorgon LNG facility is capable of producing 15.6 million mt/year from its three trains.
The project is operated by Chevron that owns a 47.3 percent stake, while other shareholders are ExxonMobil (25 percent), Shell (25 percent), Osaka Gas (1.25 percent), Tokyo Gas (1 percent) and Chubu Electric Power (0.417 percent).
