Tractebel has been selected as the owner’s engineer for the first phase of the expansion of the LNG terminal in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Following the collaboration between AES and Tractebel on the Costa Norte LNG terminal in 2015-2017 (Panama), AES has again selected Tractebel., the company said in its statement.

The facility allowed the Dominican Republic to diversify its energy mix and reduce the dependency on oil imports as well as offering a cleaner source of power generation.

The project consists of an additional LNG storage tank, additional vaporization facilities and addition of 2 truck loading bays.

AES intends to drive multiple competitive FEED’s (Front End Engineering Design) aiming at selecting the most suitable one. Based on these studies, each EPC bidder will propose its EPC price.

Tractebel’s role is to support AES Andres during this phase of the project and until the selection of the EPC contractor.
