Jan de Nul has contracted Seaway 7, the Renewables & Heavy Lifting business unit of Subsea 7, for foundation installation works on the Formosa 2 offshore wind farm in Taiwan.

The contract includes transportation, pre-piling and installation of 47 jacket foundations.

Seaway 7 will be working at the Taiwanese offshore wind farm site in 2020 and 2021, using its heavy-lift vessels Seaway Yudin and Seaway Strashnov.

Subsea 7 stated that this was a sizeable contract, without disclosing the value. However, Seaway 7’s parent company did note that it defined a sizeable contract as being between USD 50 million and USD 150 million.

Financial close for Formosa 2 was reached at the end of October.

Sembcorp Marine Offshore Platforms will deliver the jacket foundations .

Formosa 2, being developed by Macquarie Capital and Swancor Renewable Energy, will comprise 47 Siemens Gamesa 8.0 – 167 offshore wind turbines.
